About the Authors
Geetanjali Shree is an Indian author who writes in Hindi, making history in 2022 as the first Hindi-language author to win the International Booker Prize for *Tomb of Sand* (*Ret Samadhi*). Born in 1957 in Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, she studied history at Delhi's Miranda House and later obtained a doctorate from Jawaharlal Nehru University. Her novel is a sweeping, exuberant work about an elderly Indian woman's journey of self-discovery.
Daisy Rockwell is an American translator of Hindi and Urdu literature and a painter. She shared the 2022 International Booker Prize with Geetanjali Shree for her translation of *Tomb of Sand*. She is the granddaughter of Norman Rockwell. Read more →
