About the Author
Aidan ChambersBritish
Aidan Chambers (1934–2025) was a British author of children's and young-adult novels, born near Chester-le-Street, County Durham. After national service in the Royal Navy, he trained as a teacher, taught in schools, briefly joined an Anglican monastery, then became a freelance writer, co-founding Thimble Press and the magazine Signal with his wife Nancy. He won the Carnegie Medal and Printz Award for Postcards from No Man's Land (1999), and the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 2002 for his lasting contribution to children's literature.
