Matt de la Peña

Matt de la Peña is an American children's and young adult author born in National City, California in 1973. He won the 2016 Newbery Medal for *Last Stop on Market Street*, illustrated by Christian Robinson. He has written numerous young adult novels exploring themes of identity, class, and ambition, including *Mexican WhiteBoy* and *We Were Here*.
