About Errol Le Cain

Errol John Le Cain (1941–1989) was a British-Singaporean animator and acclaimed children's book illustrator who authored three books and illustrated 48 others, renowned for his richly decorative watercolours in fairy tales and legends. Born in Singapore, he moved to London at 15 to pursue animation, working with Richard Williams and on BBC productions before focusing on books with Faber and Faber. He won the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal in 1984 for Hiawatha's Childhood and received multiple commendations for works like The Cabbage Princess and The Twelve Dancing Princesses.
