About Chris Riddell
Chris Riddell (born April 13, 1962, in Cape Town, South Africa) is a South African-born English illustrator, children's book author, and political cartoonist best known for the Edge Chronicles series co-created with Paul Stewart, the Goth Girl series, and illustrations for works like Pirate Diary, Jonathan Swift's Gulliver, and The Sleeper and the Spindle by Neil Gaiman. He is the only illustrator to win three Kate Greenaway Medals (2001, 2004, 2016), served as UK Children's Laureate from 2015-2017, and was appointed OBE in 2019 for services to illustration and charity.
