About C. Walter Hodges
C. Walter Hodges (1909-2004) was an English artist, writer, and illustrator best known for his children's historical fiction and illustrations, particularly on Shakespearean and Elizabethan theatre, with notable works including Shakespeare's Theatre (1964) and The Globe Restored (1953). He won the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal in 1964 for Shakespeare's Theatre, one of only two such awards for nonfiction illustration, and was a commended runner-up for the Carnegie Medal for The Namesake.
