Hugh Johnstone Scott is a Scottish author of fantasy and supernatural tales primarily for young adults and children. Born in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland, he is best known for Why Weeps the Brogan? (1989), winner of the Whitbread Children's Novel Award and shortlisted for the McVitie's Prize, along with other notable works like The Shaman's Stone (1988) and The Plant That Ate the World (1988).
