About the Author

Linda Grant (born February 15, 1951, in Liverpool, England) is an English novelist and journalist known for her fiction exploring themes of Jewish identity, family history, and marginality, as well as non-fiction works on cultural topics. Her notable novels include The Cast Iron Shore (1995), When I Lived in Modern Times (2000, winner of the Orange Prize for Fiction), The Clothes on Their Backs (2008, shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize), and The Dark Circle (2016). She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature (FRSL) and has received awards such as the David Higham Prize, Lettre Ulysses Prize for Reportage, and honorary doctorates from the Universities of York and Liverpool John Moores.
