Laura Adams ArmerAmerican

Laura Adams Armer (1874–1963) was an American artist, writer, and photographer best known for her children's novel Waterless Mountain (1931), which won the Newbery Medal in 1932, and The Forest Pool (1938), a Caldecott Honor Book. Born in Sacramento, California, she documented Navajo and Hopi cultures through writings, photographs, paintings, and the film The Mountain Chant (1928), drawing from her extensive time living among them in the Southwest.
