About the Author

Alan Heathcock (born 1971) is an American fiction writer from the Chicago suburb of Hazelcrest, Illinois. He is best known for his acclaimed short story collection VOLT (2011), named a best book of the year by GQ, Publishers Weekly, Salon, and the Chicago Tribune, and a New York Times Editor's Pick, as well as the dystopian novel 40 (2022). His honors include a Whiting Award, National Magazine Award, and fellowships from the NEA, Bread Loaf, and Sewanee.
