Peter Mathers (1931–2004) was an English-born Australian novelist and playwright whose family emigrated to Australia in his childhood. His debut novel Trap (1966) won the Miles Franklin Literary Award, and he is also known for The Wort Papers (1972), along with plays such as Pelaco Hill and Bats.
