徳山道助の帰郷 (Tokuyama Dōsuke no Kikyō)

Hyōzō Kashiwabara (1933–1972) was a Japanese novelist and German literature scholar who won the prestigious Akutagawa Prize in 1968 for his work Tokuyama Dōsuke no kikyō (Tokuyama Dōsuke's Homecoming), a humorous portrayal of a former army general modeled after his grandfather. His notable works also include Nagai michi (The Long Road, 1969), which drew from his wartime evacuation experiences and was later adapted into manga and film.
