Andrew McGahan (1966-2019) was an Australian novelist born in Dalby, Queensland, best known for his debut novel Praise (1992), which won the Australian/Vogel Literary Award and launched the grunge lit movement, and The White Earth (2004), which won the Miles Franklin Award, Commonwealth Writers' Prize, and other major accolades.
