Teresa Toten (born 1955) is a Canadian author of young adult fiction, born in Zagreb, Croatia, to a Canadian father and Croatian mother, immigrating to Canada on the day of her birth. She earned BA and MA degrees in political science from the University of Toronto, worked in broadcasting and government roles, and began her writing career after having two daughters, with works exploring themes of identity, belonging, and adolescence. Notable achievements include winning the Governor General's Literary Award for The Unlikely Hero of Room 13B (2013) and multiple nominations for that award, alongside recognition from the American Library Association.com
