Nicholas Meyer (born December 24, 1945) is an American author, screenwriter, and director best known for his Sherlock Holmes pastiche novels, particularly the bestseller The Seven-Per-Cent Solution (1974), which sold over two million copies, topped bestseller lists, and won the British Crime Writers' Association Gold Dagger award; its film adaptation earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. He has written several other notable Holmes novels including The West End Horror, The Adventure of the Peculiar Protocols, and recent works like Sherlock Holmes and the Telegram from Hell (2024) and Sherlock Holmes and the Real Thing (2025), alongside directing Star Trek films and other acclaimed projects.
