Edmund Morris (1940-2019) was a renowned biographer best known for his Pulitzer Prize-winning The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt (1979), the first volume of a trilogy on the president, along with the controversial Dutch: A Memoir of Ronald Reagan (1999), which incorporated fictional elements. His works also include Theodore Rex (2001), Colonel Roosevelt (2010), Beethoven: The Universal Composer (2005), and Edison (2019), earning him the National Book Award and Los Angeles Times Book Prize among other honors.
