About the Author

Thomas Head Raddall was born in 1903 in Hythe, Kent, England, and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1913, eventually becoming a prominent Canadian author based in Nova Scotia. He is best known for his historical fiction and nonfiction histories, with notable works including His Majesty's Yankees (1942), Pride's Fancy (1948), and Halifax: Warden of the North (1948), for which he won three Governor General's Literary Awards.
