Tormod Haugen (1945–2008) was a Norwegian writer of children's books and translator, best known for works featuring lonely children facing adult incomprehension, drawing from Norwegian folk tales and international traditions. He debuted in 1973 with Ikke som i fjor and had books translated into 24 languages and sold to 26 countries, including his most translated novel The Nightbirds (1975). For his lasting contribution to children's literature, he received the prestigious Hans Christian Andersen Medal in 1990.
