Chanel Miller is an American author, artist, and advocate. Born in 1992, she is best known as the survivor in the Stanford sexual assault case of 2016, in which Brock Turner was convicted of sexually assaulting her while she was unconscious behind a dumpster on the Stanford University campus. For several years she was publicly known only as 'Emily Doe,' and the impact statement she wrote and delivered at Turner's sentencing—which went viral when BuzzFeed published it and was read by millions of people around the world—is considered one of the most powerful pieces of survivor advocacy writing of the decade.
