Richard Lee Rhodes (born 1937) is an American historian, journalist, and author who overcame a traumatic childhood to graduate from Yale University with honors in 1959. He is best known for his Pulitzer Prize-winning book The Making of the Atomic Bomb (1986), along with other acclaimed works on nuclear history such as Dark Sun (1995), and has authored 23 books on science, energy, and biographies.
