Jennifer Sheila Uglow (born 1947) is an English biographer, historian, critic, and former editorial director of Chatto & Windus, renowned for her vivid reconstructions of historical lives and eras. Her most notable works include The Lunar Men (James Tait Black Memorial Prize 2002, Hessell-Tiltman Prize 2003), Mr Lear (Hawthornden Prize 2018), and biographies of Hogarth, Thomas Bewick, and Elizabeth Gaskell, with major achievements including an OBE in 2008 and the Benson Medal from the Royal Society of Literature in 2012, which she later chaired.
