Leonard WeisgardAmerican
Leonard Weisgard (1916-2000) was an American illustrator and author of over 200 children's books, best known for his collaborations with Margaret Wise Brown on titles like The Noisy Book, The Important Book, and the Caldecott Medal-winning The Little Island (1948). He also received a Caldecott Honor for Rain Drop Splash the same year and illustrated classics such as Cinderella and works by Beatrix Potter and Hans Christian Andersen. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, he later lived in Denmark from 1969 until his death. Read more →
