BBEnglish
Denys James Watkins-Pitchford (1905–1990), known by his pen name 'BB', was an English naturalist, artist, and author best known for his children's fantasy and nature books such as The Little Grey Men (1942) and its sequel Down the Bright Stream (1948), as well as Brendon Chase (1944). He won the prestigious Carnegie Medal in 1942 for The Little Grey Men and was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 1989. His works often drew from his deep love of rural life, fishing, and the English countryside, which he illustrated himself.
