Robert Elwood Bly (1926-2021) was an American poet, essayist, translator, and activist best known for his poetry collections like Silence in the Snowy Fields (1962) and The Light Around the Body (1968, National Book Award winner), as well as his prose work Iron John: A Book About Men (1990), which inspired the mythopoetic men's movement.
