Mildred DeLois Taylor (born September 13, 1943) is an American author of young adult historical fiction best known for her Logan family series, particularly Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, which won the 1977 Newbery Medal. Her works explore racism and family resilience faced by African Americans in the Deep South during the Great Depression. She has received numerous awards, including multiple Coretta Scott King Awards, the NSK Neustadt Prize for Children's Literature (2003), and the Children's Literature Legacy Award (2021).
