The Forsyte Saga

John Galsworthy (1867–1933) was an English novelist and playwright born to a prosperous upper-middle-class family in Surrey, who studied law at Oxford but pursued writing instead. He achieved fame with The Man of Property (1906), the first novel in his renowned Forsyte Saga trilogy, and his plays addressing social issues like class inequality and prison reform. Awarded the 1932 Nobel Prize in Literature for his narration in The Forsyte Saga, he also served as the first president of the International PEN Club.
