Henry S. TaylorAmerican
Henry S. Taylor (1942-2024) was an American poet, translator, and academic best known for his Pulitzer Prize-winning collection The Flying Change (1985), along with other notable works such as Crooked Run (2006), Understanding Fiction: Poems 1986-1996, and translations including Sophocles' Electra. Born in Lincoln, Virginia, he taught literature and co-directed the MFA program in creative writing at American University, earning additional honors like two National Endowment for the Arts fellowships, awards from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and the Aiken Taylor Award for Modern American Poetry.
