The False Inspector Dew

Peter Lovesey (1936-2025) was a British author renowned for his historical and contemporary crime fiction, particularly the Sergeant Cribb series set in Victorian London and the long-running Peter Diamond series featuring a detective in modern-day Bath. His notable works include Wobble to Death (1970) and The Last Detective (1991), and he received major awards such as the CWA Gold and Silver Daggers, Cartier Diamond Dagger for lifetime achievement, and MWA Grand Master in 2018.
