About This Book

In nineteenth-century Lapland, a Swedish-speaking Lutheran minister arrives to bring Christianity to the Sámi reindeer herders. His daughter falls in love with a herder, and the ensuing conflict between Christianity and Sámi traditional religion tears the community apart. A beautifully researched debut novel about colonialism and faith.
