Katherine Milhous (1894–1977) was an American author, illustrator, and artist best known for her children's picture book The Egg Tree (1950), which won the 1951 Caldecott Medal for distinguished illustration. Born into a Quaker printing family in Philadelphia, she created numerous children's books inspired by Pennsylvania Dutch traditions and worked as a graphic designer for the Works Progress Administration, producing notable posters. Her other significant works include Patrick and the Golden Slippers (1951) and Snow Over Bethlehem (1945), celebrated for their vibrant illustrations and cultural storytelling.
