The Colour of Murder

Julian Gustave Symons (1912-1994) was a British crime writer, poet, and critic renowned for his psychological crime novels that explored the violence behind everyday lives, such as The Colour of Murder (1957 Gold Dagger) and The Progress of a Crime (1961 Edgar Award), as well as his influential genre history Bloody Murder. He received major accolades including the 1982 MWA Grand Master Award and 1990 CWA Cartier Diamond Dagger, served as president of the Detection Club (1976-1985), and published over 30 crime novels blending detective puzzles with character-driven narratives.
