The Colonial Period of American History

Charles McLean Andrews (1863-1943) was an American historian and Yale professor renowned for his work on colonial American history as a leader of the "Imperial school," emphasizing British imperial connections. His most notable work, The Colonial Period of American History (4 volumes, 1934-1938), earned the 1935 Pulitzer Prize for History (volume 1), and he received additional honors including the gold medal from the National Institute of Arts and Letters, presidency of the American Historical Association, and honorary doctorates from multiple universities.
