The Cat Who Went to Heaven

Elizabeth Jane Coatsworth (1893-1986) was an American author renowned for her children's literature and poetry, winning the 1931 Newbery Medal for her most notable work, The Cat Who Went to Heaven. She authored over 90 books spanning fiction, poetry for both children and adults, including the Away Goes Sally series and poetry collections like Fox Footprints, and received a Hans Christian Andersen Award runner-up honor in 1968.
