Tarell Alvin McCraney (born 1980) is an American playwright and screenwriter best known for his Brother/Sister Plays trilogy and as co-writer of the Oscar-winning film Moonlight, based on his unpublished play In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue. A MacArthur Fellow and former chair of playwriting at Yale School of Drama, he has also created the series David Makes Man and serves as artistic director of Geffen Playhouse. His works often explore Black queer identity, family, and mythology in contemporary American settings.
