The Bridge of San Luis Rey

Thornton Niven Wilder (1897-1975) was an American playwright and novelist born in Madison, Wisconsin. He achieved remarkable success with three Pulitzer Prizes—for the novel The Bridge of San Luis Rey (1928), and the plays Our Town (1938) and The Skin of Our Teeth (1943)—along with a National Book Award for The Eighth Day (1968), solidifying his status as a literary icon whose works explored universal human experiences.
