Violet CliftonEnglish
Violet Mary Clifton (née Beauclerk; 1883–1961) was an English writer, born in Rome to British parents and descendant of Charles Beauclerk, 1st Duke of St Albans. She married explorer John Talbot Clifton in 1907, accompanying him on travels and living at estates in England, Ireland, and Scotland; after his 1928 death, she wrote his biography The Book of Talbot, which won the 1933 James Tait Black Prize and was praised by W.H.
