Susan HillEnglish
Dame Susan Elizabeth Hill (born 1942) is an English author known for her gothic ghost stories, literary fiction, and crime novels. Notable works include The Woman in Black, adapted into a long-running play and film, I'm the King of the Castle (Somerset Maugham Award 1971), and The Bird of Night (Whitbread Novel Award 1972). She founded Long Barn Books and was appointed DBE in 2020 for services to literature.
