About the Author

Mark Swallow (born 1963) is a British author and teacher known for his novels exploring themes of youth and cross-cultural experiences, including Teaching Little Fang (1990), which earned him a £7,000 Betty Trask Award, Skater (1993), and Zero Per Cent (2002) (HarperCollins, Betty Trask). After studying history at Oxford University and training as a journalist on the Gloucestershire Echo, he worked in China and India before settling in Bristol (HarperCollins). His debut novel Teaching Little Fang was nominated for the Betty Trask Prize in 1991 (Fantastic Fiction).
