About the Author

Junnosuke Yoshiyuki (1924–1994) was a Japanese novelist and short-story writer renowned for his explorations of sexuality and urban life, earning the Akutagawa Prize in 1954 for Sudden Shower (Shūu), the Tanizaki Prize in 1969 for The Dark Room (Anshitsu), the Yomiuri Prize in 1974, and the Noma Literary Prize in 1978 for Toward Dusk (Yūgure made).
