Sir Antony James Beevor (born 14 December 1946) is a British military historian specializing in the Second World War, Spanish Civil War, and Russian Revolution. Educated at Winchester College and Sandhurst, he served as an officer in the 11th Hussars before becoming a writer, achieving international acclaim with bestsellers like Stalingrad (1998, winner of Samuel Johnson, Wolfson, and Hawthornden Prizes) and Berlin: The Downfall 1945 (2002).
