Rudolf von Bitter Rucker (born March 22, 1946) is an American mathematician, computer scientist, and science fiction author, recognized as one of the founders of the cyberpunk literary movement and inventor of transrealism. He earned a BA from Swarthmore College and MS/PhD from Rutgers University, taught at universities including SUNY Geneseo, Heidelberg, and San José State (emeritus 2004), and worked at Autodesk on cellular automata.
