David Guterson (born May 4, 1956) is an American novelist, short story writer, poet, essayist, and journalist best known for his debut novel Snow Falling on Cedars (1994), which sold nearly four million copies, won the PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction, and was adapted into a 1999 film.
