About the Author

Yūichi Seirai (pen name of Akitoshi Nakamura) is a Japanese novelist born in 1958 in Nagasaki Prefecture. He graduated from Nagasaki University of Education, worked for the Nagasaki city government—rising to director of the Atomic Bomb Museum—and debuted in 1995 with "Jeronimo no Jūjika," winning the Bungakukai Prize for New Writers. He gained prominence with the 2001 Akutagawa Prize for "Seisui" and the 2007 Tanizaki and Ito Sei prizes for "Bakushin" (Ground Zero, Nagasaki Stories). Read more →
