Patricia MacLachlanAmerican
Patricia MacLachlan (1938-2022) was an acclaimed American children's author best known for her Newbery Medal-winning novel Sarah, Plain and Tall (1985) and its sequels, part of over 60 books exploring family life on the prairie. Born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, she began publishing after teaching English and received major awards including the Scott O'Dell Award, Christopher Award, and National Humanities Medal in 2002.
