About the Author
John WainEnglish
John Barrington Wain (1925-1994) was an English poet, novelist, and critic associated with "The Movement" and the "Angry Young Men." His notable works include the novels Hurry on Down (1953), Strike the Father Dead (1962), and Young Shoulders (1982, Whitbread Prize winner), as well as his award-winning biography Samuel Johnson (1974, James Tait Black Memorial Prize). He served as Professor of Poetry at Oxford and was appointed CBE in 1984.
