About the Author

Toshio Kuramitsu (1908-1985) was a Japanese novelist born in Asakusa, Tokyo. He graduated from Hosei University's Department of Japanese Literature, worked as a reporter for Asahi Shimbun and at Shochiku's theater and film departments, before becoming a full-time writer, co-founding the literary magazine Mugi, and winning the 16th Akutagawa Prize in 1943 for his novel Renrakuin. He was known for numerous kaiki (mystery/horror) novels as well as works like Tsugaru Shamisen. Read more →
