Robert Pinget (1919-1997) was a Swiss-born novelist and playwright who became a French citizen in 1960. After studying law in Geneva and painting in Paris, he debuted with Entre Fantoine et Agapa (1951) and gained prominence through Éditions de Minuit, associating with the nouveau roman movement alongside figures like Alain Robbe-Grillet and Samuel Beckett. Notable works include L'Inquisitory (1962), Someone (1965, Prix Femina), and plays like La Manivelle (1960, adapted by Beckett as The Old Tune).
