About the Author

Colette Yver (1874–1953) was a prolific French Roman Catholic writer from Normandy, known for her anti-feminist novels, essays, and hagiographies aimed at a female audience, which depicted the misfortunes faced by emancipated women compared to those choosing domestic life. She won the 1907 Prix Femina (then Prix Vie Heureuse) for her notable work Princesses de science, served as dean of its jury until 1951, was admitted to the Académie des sciences, belles-lettres et arts de Rouen in 1917, and received the Chevalier of the Légion d'honneur in 1931. Other notable works include Les Cervelines, Les Dames du Palais, and Le Métier de Roi.
