Andrew CowanEnglish
Andrew Cowan (born 1960) is an English novelist and creative writing professor who directed the University of East Anglia's creative writing programme from 2008 to 2018 before retiring in 2023. His debut novel Pig (1994) won the Betty Trask Award, Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award, Authors' Club First Novel Award, and several others, with subsequent works like Common Ground (1996), Crustaceans (2000), and What I Know (2005) receiving Arts Council support. He has authored six novels, creative writing guides, and monographs, blending fiction with nonfiction on writing pedagogy.
