Sir Andrew Motion (born 26 October 1952) is an English poet, novelist, and biographer best known for his biographies Philip Larkin: A Writer's Life (1993, Whitbread Prize winner) and Keats (1997), as well as novels like Silver (2012), a sequel to Treasure Island. He served as UK Poet Laureate from 1999 to 2009, founded the Poetry Archive, and was knighted in 2009 for services to literature.
